October 2025 NYC school bus crisis
We are posting here as an advance archive the different versions coming to us of what is happening. Just when the school board was starting to address the concerns over understaffed and overlong routes, and our community drafted PIST and some unions to join the discussion, some of the private companies felt provoked who contract with the city to provide busing. They lashed out and through the media threatened mass layoffs of the workers, which would mean mass exclusion of students from school. Media links are below and in response, press statements from PIST, Road to Better Busing and ATU 1181, flyers given to parents by workers from companies without ATU, flyers given to parents by the school system, and various calls to action whether signed or unsigned.
We trust our followers to use critical thinking and keep the bottom line: Riders need to ride, workers need to work!
